Ensuring universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy by 2030
Greetings and Welcome to the Hybrid Platform on SDG 7
Greetings, everyone. My name is Sofonie Dala, and it is a true pleasure to welcome you to our hybrid platform dedicated to Sustainable Development Goal 7.
SDG 7 calls on us to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. As one of the 17 United Nations goals for 2030, it highlights the importance of universal energy access, the expansion of renewable energy, and greater efficiency in how we use power.
Today, we gather not only to discuss these ambitions but to reaffirm our shared commitment to building a future where clean energy lights every home, fuels every community, and protects our planet for generations to come.
Self-conversation
Man, there’s no power again… I’ll switch on my solar light. Clean, renewable energy. — so much sun, so much heat. My friends, Angola is struggling. Here in Cazenga, the electricity keeps failing. The power went out at night and caught everyone off guard, at a time when nobody expected it. What a joke, right?
There has to be a solution for the darkness. Darkness? No — not for me. I bought my solar panel, and now I’m charging with the sun. When the electricity suddenly goes, I still have light at home. Look here, can you see? Clean and renewable energy. Let’s all use clean and renewable energy. I support SDG 7 — clean and renewable energy.
I have solar light. When hydropower fails, I still have solar light. Here’s my lamp — I won’t stay in the dark. And you?
Another chapter: Me: “The power’s out? Where’s my solar panel? Let me switch on the sun’s energy… ah, light, energy… now I’m using solar power. What a relief!
